Yesterday's Communion Meditation was so interesting and thought provoking I thought I needed to pass it on. Woody Adams presented this but he found it in the Christian Standard a few years ago.
There are several events in history that people ask each other where they were when this happen:
- JFK being shot
- September 11th
- Berlin Wall being torn down
- Challenger blowing up
- Moon landing
The moon landing is one of the most watched television events in the world. At that time, 14% percent of the population was watching. To me that is amazing considering how many people in the world were sleeping. Two famous phrases came from that one event:
- Houston, this is Tranquility Base. The Eagle has landed.
- That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.
Buzz Aldrin read John 15:5 " I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me and I in him, the same bringth forth much fruit; for without me ye can do nothing." Buzz radioed back to earth "Houston, this is the LM pilot speaking. I would like to request a few moments of silence. I would invite each person listening in, wherever or whoever he may be, to contemplate for a moment the events of the last few hours and to give thanks in his own individual way.
Buzz contemplated how Communion was the first foods to be eaten and drank on the moon. I agree with Buzz. I also think it fitting because one of the first things we teach children is that God is everywhere...Buzz took the time to honor God on the moon yet another one of his wonderful creations.
