Contest Winners!

If you have been following this little blog, you know that we had a contest among the children of our church. The kids earned points for attendance, bringing and reading their Bibles, bringing a visitor, and saying memory verses. If they participated in special events they earned additional points. Everyone was given the opportunity to get extra points by learning larger memory work. These consisted of the Ten Commandments, the books of the Bible, the Disciples, and the Beatitudes. All of the children worked really hard to earn points. We celebrated on March 8, 2009 with our Family Fun Night Carnival. We all had a blast.

We want to recognize our top two contestants. Our first place went to: Alec. A few weeks into our contest, we realized some of the children didn't have Bibles. The church furnished Bibles for us to give them. Alec asked what the final prize for the contest was. We told him it had not been decided but more than likely a nice Bible. He told us that we should let the church keep the one they had for him. He was determined to win the contest. He wanted a Bible that had a concordance and maps. He only missed two Sundays. He had to go on outings with the Boy Scouts in order to earn Merit Badges. We hope Alec keeps up his thirst for knowledge in the Lord.

Our runner-up teased us at first. She wanted everyone to think that she was just a pretty face. After the first couple of weeks, she couldn't resist spouting out the verses. At only 5 years old, Joy, our princess, gave Alec a run for the contest. They were neck and neck the entire time. The next time you see this pretty face, remember there is more to it than beauty. Joy only missed one Sunday due to a family reunion.
We are so very thankful to everyone who was involved from the beginning to the very end of this project. Mom and I couldn't have done it without you.

FAMILY FUN NIGHT

On March 8th we will be having our Family Fun Night to reward the children for all their hard work. This is a time we can share and play together. The children are allowed to bring their friends and share their tickets. Children without tickets may still play the games but will not be eligible for prizes. Food will be provided. Please join us between 5-7 p.m. and enjoy the celebration.

"The Twins"

The twins, Arlene Hightower and Allene Gray, are doing much better. They have returned to sitting in their favorite pew, which I must say is a joy for us all. They are still sore but as with all injuries that will just take time.

Phillipians 4:13 I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
I thought I would introduce you to Amanda Stump. Amanda is a senior at Johnson Bible College. She has been helping with Children's Church. Mom and I extend our thanks and appreciatation.

Brett & Nikki Adams Ministries

On Sunday February 8th we received a special blessing. Brett & Nikki Adams sang in our morning worship service. For our evening services they, along with their children, presented us with a night of inspirational music. They were fantastic! Brett's parents have recently moved to our county. Hopefully we will get to hear from them again. If you would like to know more about them check out their website.

Update on "The Twins"

On January 31st two of our beloved members,"the Twins", were injured in a car accident. Mrs. Arlene Hightower has 7 broken ribs and a punctured lung. Miss Allene Gray has three broken ribs. These two ladies are now resting comfortably at home. They said they just "needed a little rest". Our thoughts and prayers are with Arlene and Allene. We can't wait to see them back at church.
